2000

January - Began offering communion on 1st & 3rd Sundays/month at both services
January 18 - Alpha (introduction to Christian faith) began at Atonement with 10 lay leaders; more courses followed
Through their offerings and donations, Atonement's Sunday School children raised $150 to purchase a llama through Heifer Project International
February - MaryAnn Nelson, Una Solheim, Willie Moe, and Lynn Miller were thanked for their years of dedicated service playing organ/piano/keyboard at Atonement; Cheryl Broostin hired as choir/worship accompaniest
April 9 - Youth musical "Kids Telling Kids" with over 20 participants; Kay Johnson directed, Cathy Soldner accompanied, and Bob & Lorna Schultz videotaped
May - Flooring removed from Fellowship Hall
September - At a special congregational meeting, bids were accepted for the kitchen/choir room addition
October 8 - Groundbreaking for new kitchen addition after 2nd service; Dick Larson (Capital Improvement Steering Committee Chair), Bev Johnson (charter member of the congregation), and Anne Olson (new member of the congregation) were chosen to begin the groundbreaking
December 17 - First intergenerational Christmas program "The Big, Big Story"
2001
Council initiated the Vision Discernment Process (still underway)
Pilot Light leadership training began, to foster small group ministry
Abuse Prevention Policy and Facilities Usage Policy implemented at Atonement
Fellowship Team, led by Nita Nelson and Christi McGeorge, began its ministry
July - New pictorial directory of members
May 6 - Youth musical "Good Kings Come in Small Packages"; Kay Johonson, director
June 2- Y.E.S.S.S(Your Excellent Super Summer Saturdays) began meeting for fun and fellowship for 6th-12th graders; live band kick-off!
June 3 - Kick-off to year-long celebration of Atonement's 40th Anniversary; dedication of new kitchen addition
Senior choir CD "With a Voice of Singing" and Contemporary Worship Team CD "The Air We Breathe"
Atonement's first appearance in New Brighton's "Stockyard Day's"; great float!
August 15 - New 6'1" ebony Weber grand piano delivered and paid for!
September - Service and Ministry Team (SAM) was formed
December 16 - "Signs of Christmas" created and directed by Cathy Soldner
December 31 - Atonement has 375 baptized members, 282 confirmed members, and 11 associate members
