My name is Alissa MacKenzie. I have been a member of Atonement since I was born. I am currently attending Winona State University for nursing. This summer I will be traveling to Tanzania with my school. We will be spending 5 days out of 3 ½ weeks volunteering in the city of Iambi at a local AIDS hospital. There are a currently over 1.6 million people suffering from AIDS in Tanzania, most of which are women and children. While we are visiting, we will be making repairs, painting and cleaning around the hospital. One of our specific projects will be to build a roof over part of the hospital. This hospital is in desperate need of medical supplies. |

My professor has asked our group to raise money to give as a gift to the hospital. I have been asked to be the fundraising coordinator for this project. I am truly excited to be apart of this opportunity to serve others who are in such great need. I know that part of Atonements mission is to go to people in need and so I am asking Atonement members to consider making a donation. This donation will go directly to the hospital in Iambi. My professor has donated 3,000 dollars of his own money for this cause, and our group is hoping to match that amount. There is still time to donate-until May 15. Please make your checks to:
Dr. John Nosek. He is my professor of Ecology at WSU. He is leading the
trip to Tanzania, Africa and has worked extensively on getting grants
for AIDS prevention programs in Africa. You can give the money to my mom
(Elise MacKenzie). If you have any questions, please call me at Thank you so much and there's still an opportunity to donate Thank you so much for your generous response to my request on Sunday April 10. So far the donations are close to $1000. Your response was overwhelming and inspiring to me. I look forward to sharing photos and my experiences with you this summer.
