ANNOUNCEMENTS
November 19, 2006
Welcome to Worship
We’re delighted to worship with you today at Atonement! Please stay for refreshments and fellowship after the service. (If you’d like to learn more about our congregation, that’s the best place to start!) We also invite you to visit our web site at www.Deliver4Jesus.org, pick up a copy of our current newsletter at the guest book table, and be sure to get a copy of our Mission and Vision statements from the information desk.
Celebrating a Blessing from God
We rejoice today as Brayden Stephen Kok is brought to the Lord in the waters of Holy Baptism. Brayden’s parents are Michelle and Paul Kok. Her sponsors are . May they ever rejoice together in this sacramental gift of God’s love!
In Christian Sympathy
Please keep Jack and Carol Duoos in your prayers as they mourn the loss of Carol’s sister Jennifer Verjin.
Freshly Baked Homemade Caramel Rolls Today!
Atonement Youth and the Camp Ministry Team are serving caramel rolls 11:00 am this morning. Proceeds from your free-will offering help to send kids to a Christian Bible Camp experience this summer.
Daily Texts 2007 group order
Does the Daily Texts provide part of the daily bread for your spiritual nourishment? Many people have found special meaning in the use of the Daily Texts as part of their daily discipleship training. This year we are again offering an opportunity for people to participate in a group order for the Daily Texts 2007. The cost will be $6.30, a savings from the $8.95 cover price. The increase is a bit more than last year because of increased shipping costs. And, because the shipping costs will increase substantially in December, we have an earlier deadline for the order. A sign up sheet will be available on the information desk from mid-November until Sunday 26 November 2006. Checks should be made payable to Atonement Lutheran Church. Please indicate Daily Texts on the memo line.
Sundays in Advent
Beginning Dec. 3, we will be singing songs of the season at 9:55 a.m.
Teen Challenge: Relationship Renewed
Remember the emotion we
felt as we heard the Teen Challenge members state their individual stories of
pain and redemption? Remember how moved we were by hearing the devotion
in their voices as they sang? We have not forgotten the Teen Challenge
singers and they have not forgotten us.
During the upcoming Christmas season, many Teen Challenge residents are
unable to go home or have no home to go to. Atonement has been invited to
contribute gift items for the residents who will not be going home. These
gifts would go a long way to make Christmas memorable and special.

The council has directed the finance committee to accept applications and make recommendations for her successor. The successful candidates should have working knowledge of general ledger reporting, bank reconciliations, cash management, and budgeting processes. Season Of Thankfulness
It is the season for thankfulness. The Hunger Group is encouraging you to think of those who are hungry at this time of year. Our local food shelves provide a dramatic service to those folks who are in need of food for themselves or their families.
In order to make Thanksgiving and Christmas a happy time for needy families, please consider donating foods or a check. Our local sites are Southern Anoka Community Assistance (SACA) in Columbia Heights and Ralph Reeder Food Shelf in New Brighton.
They would appreciate special holiday food donations such as boxes of potatoes, boxes of stuffing, cans of sweet potatoes or green beans or corn, cans of fruit, dessert mixes, or $10 Cub gift cards. Thank you so very much. The Hunger Group
Office Hours over Thanksgiving
The church office will be closed Thursday, November 23 and Friday, November 24. Please submit announcement articles into the office by 9 a.m. Wednesday, November 22. Thank you, Nancy Jahnke
Operation Joy: Can You Help Spread Joy?
The Ralph Reeder Food Shelf is working with the Salvation Army for this holiday season Operation Joy. Volunteers are asked to staff the phones to register needy families for Christmas gifts from November 13-December 15, at the Salvation Army site on County Road B2 and Prior (on B2 just west of Rosedale shopping center). Various weekday daytime shifts are available.
The day of the Christmas gift giving is Tuesday, December 19 at the Food Shelf located in the former Pike Lake School on 14th Street in New Brighton. Any time of the day or evening volunteers would be a big help.
Please call Lisa Baker at the Ralph Reeder Food Shelf if you are able to donate a few hours of your time: 651-639-6021 extension 3732.
Thank you much!

Worldwide, there are many talented artisans who make beautiful and useful items. You can order these creations and give them as Christmas gifts. Lutheran World Relief enables you to do this through their Handcraft Project gift catalog. This catalog is on the Information Kiosk; copies of the order form are inside.
Take special note of the lovely Nativity candle holder on p. 42 and the carved olive wood ornaments on p. 48.
