The Charitable Giving Team Message
A leader is best when people barely know he exists, when his work is done, his aim fulfilled, they will say: we did it ourselves. Lao Tzu
Welcome to Worship
We’re delighted to worship with you today at Atonement! Please stay for refreshments and fellowship after the service. (If you’d like to learn more about our congregation, that’s the best place to start!) We also invite you to visit our Web site at www.Deliver4Jesus.org, pick up a copy of our current newsletter at the guest book table, and be sure to get a copy of our Mission and Vision statements from the information desk.

Urgent Need for Health Kits
The disaster in Haiti has accentuated the need for Lutheran World Relief Health Kits. Because of the urgency of the need, the Hunger Group has combined with the Youth Ministry Team to create a whole-church project of collecting items for Health Kits.
Health Kits contain:
1 hand towel (dark color recommended)
1 washcloth (dark color recommended)
1 bath size bar of soap (4-5 oz) in original packaging
1 adult size toothbrush in original packaging
1 sturdy comb (remove packaging)
1 metal nail file or nail clippers with file attached (remove
packaging)
6 band-aids, 1/2" to 3/4"; secure together with a rubber band
Please put any of the above items in the BIG box in the narthex. The Hunger Group and the Youth Ministry Team will assemble them for mailing at the end of March. The last day for contributions is Sunday, March 28 at 9:00 a.m.
FYI: The cost to Lutheran World Relief to buy toothpaste for the kits and to ship them overseas is $2.65 per kit. Donations to Lutheran World Relief are welcome.
Thank you for caring about people who need the basics of life.
The Youth Ministry Team and the Hunger Group
Thank You
Our continued thanks for your generosity at the recent benefit for Michelle Vrieze…what an amazing event with so many helping hands! There is still an ongoing way to support Michelle in the year ahead. If you would like to make a monthly contribution to her health care needs, there are commitment cards available on the Kiosk in the Narthex. After you’ve filled out the card, please put it in Vicki Klaers’ church mail box. Your compassion is so appreciated.

Be grateful for what God has provided to you.

Last Chance to Order Easter Flowers!
March 23rd is the day Carol Hoiby will call our Easter Garden flowers order into the florist. The yellow order forms are available on the information desk.
Coffee Fellowship Easter Sunday
The Youth will be serving a breakfast on Palm Sunday instead of Easter, so we are looking for someone to host coffee fellowship on Easter Sunday. Please contact Helen Campeau if you are able to do so.
If You're Thinking of Food, So Are the Food Shelves
March is Food Shelf Month. The Atonement area is served by two dependable food shelves: Ralph Reeder (near the intersection of Silver Lake Road and 14th Street in New Brighton) and Southern Anoka Community Assistance (SACA; on 38th Avenue in Columbia Heights). Non-perishable food items that Atonians put in the wooden box beside the kiosk get delivered to both these food shelves. Thank you very much for donating generously in March.
However (this is a big however) if you give cash instead of actual food items, your money goes so much farther. For example, if you spend $10 at your grocery store, you might buy 4-6 grocery items. If you give $10 to a food shelf, that same money can buy 40-60 food items from a regional food bank or USDA Commodities! Wow. (See photos on bulletin board). Plus, a portion of your donation can be matched by the Feinstein Foundation.
If you choose to give a check, please mail it to one or both of these organizations:
SACA Food Shelf 627 38th Avenue NE
Columbia Heights, MN 55421
Ralph Reeder Food Shelf 2101 14th Street NW
New Brighton , MN 55112
Thank you for thinking of those who are hungry.
