The Charitable Giving Team Message
Because I delivered the poor who cried for help, and the fatherless who had none to help him. The blessing of him who was about to perish came upon me, and I caused the widow's heart to sing for joy.
Job 29:12-13

Come for the food stay for the fellowship! Lenten Soup Suppers will be held on Wednesday evenings through March 24th, the meal is served between 5:45-6:15 pm followed by a worship service at 6:30 pm.
As in past years we ask that you sign up to provide soup, bread, crackers, dessert, etc. The sign up sheets are located at the information kiosk. This could be a great service project for your group or you may just want to sign up individually. Thanks for your help! If you want to "hire" the youth to cleanup you can do so by contributing some or all of your freewill offering to the youth mission trip fund. Thanks. Any questions ask Greg Hanson @ 763-572-8304.
Soup Supper Cookbook
We are collecting all of the recipes for soups prepared for Lenten soup suppers. Please write up your recipe and put it in Greg Hanson’s box in the fellowship hall. We will put them together in a booklet and use them as a fundraiser for the Youth Team. Thanks for you help.
Haiti Update
The Charitable Giving Team was overwhelmed by the generosity of Atonians toward the tragedy in Haiti. In January, over $900 was given by Atonement members and guests to ELCA Disaster Response. This kindness shows that we in a Lutheran church in New Brighton , Minnesota feel the pain of fellow Christians far away.
The ELCA has notified Atonement that your money has helped provide:
In case some of you mailed checks for Lutheran World Relief to the Thrivent address, you would be very pleased to know that Lutheran World Relief has delivered 2,325 health kits, 1,500 layettes, and ll,265 quilts to Haiti -- with more on the way.
Thank you! The Charitable Giving Team
Urgent Need for Health Kits!
The disaster in Haiti has accentuated the need for Lutheran World Relief Health Kits. Because of the urgency of the need, the Hunger Group has combined with the Youth Ministry Team to create a whole-church project of collecting items for Health Kits.
Health Kits contain:
1 hand towel
1 washcloth
1 bath size bar of soap (4-5 oz) in original packaging
1 adult size toothbrush in original packaging
1 sturdy comb
1 metal nail file or nail clippers with file attached
6 band-aids, 1/2" to 3/4"
Please put any of the above items in the big box in the narthex. All items should be new and in good condition. The Hunger Group and the Youth Ministry Team will assemble them for mailing at the end of March. Also, the cost to Lutheran World Relief to buy toothpaste for the kits and to ship them overseas is $2.65 per kit. Donations to Lutheran World Relief are welcome, and can be made by writing Lutheran World Relief in the memo line of your check to Atonement.
Thank you for caring about people who need the basics of life. Sincerely, The Youth Ministry Team and the Hunger Group
